STREATLEY NORTH (K ings) Probably our best site for soaring. Opposite Thurle Down. Access: carry on past the car park for Thurle and turn left down farm track towards farm. Turn right at end of track and park neatly by barn. If first to arrive on site , a courtesy call at farmhouse (SU 565 810) is good practice . Do not walk directly across field towards slope but follow grass path enclosed between two fences to left of parking area and this will lead you to a gate at the foot of the slope. Open metal gate and close securely (climb over if padlocked). Once into this area, continue along fifty yards and climb Hill. Take off anywhere along the top and bottom land only at base of hill. Do not overfly fence into bottom field . Top landing restricted , but slope landing OK. This site can be closed for shooting but normally open from 1st Feb - 30th Sept. Please check with Bryan or Mike before setting off. Ordnance Survey Map: Explorer 170 SU 564 807 Wind Directions: North-north-west - North-north-east. Best direction: North Height above sea level: 490 ft.Top to bottom height 250 ft. Cross country potential: Class G airspace to FL55. As yet unexplored. Best height gain: 800 ft Pilot level: OK for low airtime, but seek advice from more experienced pilots before flying on day. Do not fly alone.
