This is an advantageous area, one of the best in Greece, for long distance flights to all directions, as the conditions are perfect to gain height. For that reason competitions have been held in the past in Velia. During the flight one has a beautiful view of the valleys and mountains, Helmo, Kalavrita, some neighbouring villages, Agia Lavra and all the historical sites of the area. Long routes have taken place in the past: towards Mt Erimantho, the city of Tripoli, Argos and Mt Ziria.

na. na. Velia is a 30 minute drive from the town of Kalavrita. You take the same road to the ski resort and you pass the intersection of Kastria. You continue straight ahead for about 1500 meters, then you turn right and you take the dirt road towards the antennas. There are two take off areas there. na. na.
