Launch is quite steep facing South East and Intermediate or over only. Best winds are from Sth Est, Sth, Sth Wst. There is about 2.5 klm of Jungle to cover before reaching the Landing on a straight flight so watch out for strong winds and penetration. Another reason not for beginners Can also fly if wind is light from the back when thermic. Site tends to cloud in quite often and be unlaunchable. Early morning is best to avoid this. Launch area is on the upside left of the road in about 80 meters and about 2Klm before reaching the top of Gunung Ledang. Recommend Check the weather forecasts as clouding in is a regular occurrence.
Take off is at 1052 Meters ASL. landing 70 meters ASL. GPS coordinates:N2 21.962 E102 36.549 Launch is quite steep facing South East and Intermediate or over only. Landing area use to be at GPS Coordinate N2 20.459 E102 38.311 ASL 70 Meters. but this may have changed now. Takes 2 hours from Kuala Lumpur to launch going south on express way E2 heading to Singapore. Turn left at the Tankak Exit on to Rd 23 and the Gunung Ledang road is left of Rd23 about 2 to 3klm on the other side of Tankak. If you have reached Sagil you have missed it. Its not well posted so need to keep an eye out for a dirt raod. There is a national Park Toll half Way up to get into the National Park.Last time I went it was Locals MYR5, foreigners MYR10. There is a waiver if you contact the GL National Park Management. Contact KL paragliding forum for details. kl-paragliding@yahoogroups.com North Side of Gunung Ledang is a Military redistricted zone no fly area. North Side of Gunung Ledang is a Military redistricted zone no fly area.
Caution when wind over 15klm hr from SE S SW. Ridge will be soarable if wind is S SE so its still flyable and can make landing ok if good height reached and heading SW along the ridge. If heading straight out from launch in this condition penetration over the jungle to reach landing maybe difficult. Beginners should not fly in these conditions and again, not recommended site for beginners. Landing is easy reached on no wind straight flight out on a sledie and usually have a good height of 200M to 300M or more by the time you reach it. Flyable if wind from the back N NW NE if light, but watch for strong sink is its stronger.
